06/04/2008 - Oakland, CA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Carlos Gonzalez belted a three-run double to spark a six-run seventh inning, as the Oakland Athletics beat Detroit, 10-2, to complete a three-game sweep.
Bobby Crosby had two hits and two runs batted in, and Travis Buck homered and scored twice for Oakland, which is riding a four-game winning streak after dropping four straight.
Justin Duchscherer (5-4) allowed only two baserunners over the first five innings including a stretch that saw him retire nine straight and 12 of 13 batters for the win. His outing was finished after 6 2/3 innings, giving up two runs on three hits and five walks after running into trouble in the later innings.
Tigers starter Nate Robertson (3-6) surrendered five runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out five through 6 1/3 innings in taking the loss.
Magglio Ordonez and Carlos Guillen knocked in the runs for Detroit, which finished 3-6 on its road trip.
The Athletics got to Robertson in the fourth for the first run of the game. Emil Brown and Daric Barton started the frame with singles, and Brown scored on Buck's double-play groundout.
Oakland padded its lead one inning later. Jack Hannahan worked a one-out walk and Jack Cust roped a two-out double to right two batters later. Crosby then smacked a double to left, plating both runners.
Detroit had back-to-back one-out walks in the sixth and Guillen put the Tigers on the board with a single up the middle. Marcus Thames then worked a walk to load the bases and Duchscherer hit Ordonez with a pitch, forcing in a run. Duchscherer induced Jeff Larish into an inning-ending double play to stop the bleeding.
Buck gave Oakland back a two-run cushion, leading off the home half with a blast to right-center.
The A's batted around for six runs in the seventh, breaking open an otherwise close game. Robertson started the inning, but was removed in favor of Freddy Dolsi after walking a batter and recording an out. Dolsi struck out the first batter he faced, Crosby, and issued a walk to Brown before giving way to Casey Fossum.
Barton ripped an RBI single and Buck singled to load the bases before Gonzalez doubled to left, clearing the bases. Rob Bowen then singled back up the middle to plate Gonzalez. Aquilino Lopez came on for Fossum and gave up a Hannahan double to right-center that scored Bowen and capped the scoring.

Big 12 Conference betting odds
Work left to do: Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Kansas State
Texas joins Texas A&M and Kansas as locks after getting league win No. 11. Texas Tech greatly helped its own hopes and crippled OK State's with the two-point win Saturday. Is K-State the last reasonable hopeful? Could be an elimination match in Stillwater on Tuesday, at least for the Cowboys.
Work left to do:
Texas Tech [18-11 (7-7), RPI: 44, SOS: 12] A critical two-point win over OK State leaves the Red Raiders with Baylor and at Iowa State left. Get both and the Red Raiders likely are good to go. Get one and there could be some interesting comparisons with a K-State team that could finish two or three games "ahead" of them in the standings but doesn't have any of the quality wins Texas Tech has. Not a lot in nonconference play (against Arkansas in Little Rock being the best win, by far) to lean on.
Oklahoma State [18-9 (5-8), RPI: 50, SOS: 35] Still without a road win, the Cowboys now need to win two on the road just to get to .500 in conference play. It's hard to recall a team (OK, other than Clemson) falling so precipitously from lock status to almost certainly out of the NCAAs at this point. There are wins to be had in the last three, including a very big home game against K-State on Tuesday, but this team is reeling. Can you tell the pressure to win is getting to them with the way the final possession played out at Texas Tech? There are some good nonconference performances to lean on, specifically beating Missouri State and Syracuse on neutral floors and Pitt in OK City, but if the Pokes don't right this very, very soon, that won't be enough.
Kansas State [20-9 (9-5), RPI: 56, SOS: 96] It pays to be in the Big 12 North. The nine league wins are Colorado (twice), Missouri (twice), Iowa State (twice), Baylor, Nebraska and (a good one against) Texas. That helps explain the middling computer profile. The win over USC is nice, but the nonconference leaves a lot to be desired. The game at OK State in Stillwater on Tuesday is huge, as it could KO the Cowboys and leave K-State with a home date against Oklahoma with which to work.
MySportsbook.com: NBA Championship Odds
With the playoffs about two months away, the top two teams in the Western Conference are the clear cut leaders to win the NBA Championship. The Dallas Mavericks have the best record in the NBA (44-9) and have been absolutely scorching since the second week of the season. What makes the Mavs’ record more impressive is the fact that they dropped their first four games of the season. Currently they have won 17 out of their last 18 and are MySportsbook.com’s favorite (2-1) to win it all. Right behind the Mavs are the Pacific leading Phoenix Suns (39-13). Last season, the Suns lost in the Conference Finals to non-other then the Mavericks four games to two. Of course the Suns were without center Amare Stoudemire who has is averaging 19.9 PPG and 9.5 RPG since coming back from his knee injury. Unlike the Mavs, the Suns have struggled a bit lately having lost their last three and four out of their last seven. Of course the main reason for their three straight loses is due to the absence of two time MVP Steve Nash, who is out with a shoulder injury. Heads-up, the Mavs have beaten the Suns in both of their meetings this season.
In the Eastern Conference, the Pistons (32-19) are the favorites to win it all at 6-1. The addition of Chris Webber seems to have been a good move for the Pistons. Since coming over from the 76ers, Webber has averaged 13.1 PPG and 7.3 RPG and the Pistons are 11-4. Even though the defending champion Heat are currently on the playoff making cusp, they are the Eastern Conference team that is getting the most action to win it all (9-1). The fact that Shaquille O’Neal is back in the starting lineup after missing 39 games probably has something to do with this. No doubt, Shaq makes a difference when in the lineup as their winning six out of their last seven would indicate.
