Mariners shake up roster, release Byrnes

05/02/2010 - Seattle, WA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Mariners released outfielder Eric Byrnes on Sunday, just two days after he failed to execute a suicide squeeze in an extra-inning loss to the Rangers.

Byrnes, who signed with the Mariners for the minimum salary in the offseason, played in 15 games for Seattle, going just 3-for-32 with one stolen base. The 34-year-old has failed to play in more than 84 games or hit above .226 since 2007.

In addition, the Mariners optioned utility player Matt Tuiasosopo to Triple-A Tacoma. To replace Byrnes and Tuiasosopo on the roster, Seattle recalled infielder Josh Wilson and outfielder Ryan Langerhans from the minors.

Tuiasosopo had been 4-for-22 this season with one RBI for Seattle. Wilson is hitting .333 with 11 RBI in 20 games for the Rainiers, while Langerhans is batting .282 with a .391 on-base percentage in the minors this season.

American Idol Betting Odds: Season 6
