Mets' Castro placed on DL

Baseball Betting Lines

08/19/2007 - Washington, DC (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - New York Mets catcher Ramon Castro was put on the 15-day disabled list Saturday due to lower back pain.

Castro is the second Mets catcher to be put on the DL in the last week, as he joined Paul Lo Duca. Castro is batting .282 with nine homers and 27 RBI this season.

With Castro and Lo Duca out of the lineup, the Mets have turned to Mike DiFelice to take over the catching duties.

The Mets replaced Castro's spot on the roster by purchasing the contract of catcher Sandy Alomar Jr. from Triple-A New Orleans.
